This piano is one of the European imports that was sold here in the US during the late 80's, early 90's.

Now a product of Beckstien, the Zimmerman factory was purchased in n 1992, the group purchased the Saxon Piano Factory in Seifhennersdorf as well as the Zimmerman brand from a state privatizing agency. Zimmerman, also founded in the 19th century, had been part of the German Piano Union in GDR days; what was left by the time of German reunification were merely ruins. Incorporating the historic but run-down Zimmerman manufacture into the modern works of Bechstein proved a daunting task. One year after German reunification, Bechstein was forced to file for bankruptcy. But the senate of Berlin helped the company through the tight spot and in 1996, C. Bechstein Pianoforte Factory was reborn as a listed company. New owners invested roughly €13 million. Three years later, shares in the company began to produce dividends. Company headquarters remain in Berlin, but the Seifhennersdorf site now employees a robust 200 employees, already twice the original number.
